
Amir Jahangir
Jahangir is a design thinker and an innovator. He is a leading strategic communication and media professional in the world. He was honored as the Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum for his work on development initiatives to improve the state of media and governance.
He leads Mishal Pakistan; a country partner institute of the new economy and societies platform, World Economic Forum – managing the country portfolio on improving the state's competitiveness. He advises leading institutions on public policy development. Under Jahangir's leadership, Mishal has been honored with prestigious awards for its excellence in competitive intelligence and strategic planning. In 2023 and 2021, Corporate Vision Magazine recognized Mishal as the Best Competitive Intelligence and Strategic Planning Company at the Global Business Awards. Additionally, in 2022, Mishal was acclaimed by Acquisition International's Business Excellence Awards as the leader in competitive intelligence and strategic planning services.
He has served as an Advisor to the Stanford Center of Innovation and Communication at Stanford University on Technology, Innovation, and Journalism. Developing an international program to create synergies between the tech industry and media, while developing understanding and reporting on innovation. He is an Adjunct Faculty at the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Science and Technology (SZABIST), he has crafted academic modules specializing in Storytelling and Narratology. He is also part of the Government's committee to develop the National Artificial Intelligence Policy for Pakistan. The Festival of Media 2010, Valencia ranked him among the top 10 media-influencing personalities in the world.
As a co-Founder of Media Development and AGAHI (not for profits), his flagship development program; bringing press clubs, journalist's associations, and academia on a common platform, has empowered communities across Pakistan. He has developed clusters of expertise around the region's critical challenges, engaging more than 35,000 professionals. Pakistan's first journalism awards, the AGAHI Awards for journalism excellence; Media Credibility Index, a content evaluation and delivery framework for assessing discourse. His ongoing focus on developing the Governance Accountability Index, and the Future of Jobs Reports for Pakistan are in collaboration with senior academics and industry practitioners aimed at improving policy formulations with the World Economic Forum and the State.
Earlier he worked as CEO for SAMAA TV. He was also the board member and the founding CEO of CNBC Pakistan. At the age of 31, Jahangir was the youngest CEO of any CNBC franchise in the world. He is also the founder and former CEO of DBTV.live; Pakistan's first internet TV with an artificial intelligence (AI) enabled newsroom. Jahangir has also been at the forefront of technology by leading the startup RINSTRA, Pakistan's first digital platform for content creators and storytellers. Jahangir has been associated with BBC World Service as an international trainer for global partner organizations' digital transformations.
Jahangir's distinguished career as a C-Level Executive, which commenced in 2001, is marked by a dynamic portfolio of leadership roles. He currently holds positions on the boards of numerous startups and nonprofit organizations, both within the domestic and international landscapes. His global influence extends to his role as a Member of the Experts Network at the World Economic Forum, highlighting his commitment to driving positive change on a global scale. Jahangir's international engagements include his involvement with Tagizo Technologies in Canada, Member Board of Advisors for Headline Bulletin (hbuk.co.uk), International Economic Justice League, Inc.(USA). He also sits on the Board of Advisors for the Think Tank on UKRAINE's Economic Development Plan - Free Nation, while his role as the Country Chair for Pakistan at Global Dignity in Norway. In his homeland, he is a Founding Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan Health Parliament, Media Development Trust, and the AGAHI Awards. He has also served as Board Advisor to the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT).
Jahangir contributes significantly to academic excellence in Pakistan, serving as a Committee Member at the International Islamic University in Islamabad and participating as member for committees that design frameworks for scholarship engagement, institutional scholarship awards, and educational program reviews. Jahangir has been a pivotal figure as a Board of Advisors for the Mass Communications Department at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and he was also actively engaged in fostering business incubation at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML). His multifaceted contributions are a testament to his commitment to catalyzing positive change across various sectors.
Jahangir is an SECP Certified Director from Pakistan's Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is also an Alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the National Defense University, Islamabad on National and International Security. Jahangir is also a Stanford University's Design Thinking Alumnus. He has also been trained as a public policy professional at Harvard, Yale, MIT, Tufts, and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy of the National University of Singapore. He is also a 2019 Alumnus of the Harvard University on Artificial Intelligence's Public Policy and Governance Program.
Jahangir is a frequent speaker at the World Economic Forum, World Bank, Harvard, Stanford, BBC College of Journalism, and other national and international research institutions. He contributes regularly to issues related to the economy, technology, media, and national and international security in local and international media outfits.
